The Next Star Wars Jedi Game Will Bring the Trilogy to an End

Star Wars loves a trilogy and now we know its recent video game series will follow suit. Most fans already had a pretty good idea that EA and Respawn were working on a third game in their hit series, Star Wars Jedi. How could they not after the massive success of both 2019’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, and 2023’s Star Wars Jedi: Survivor? A new statement though confirms this upcoming game will end a trilogy and bring Cal Kestis’ story to a conclusion.

At a company investor relations day for EA this week, the president of EA Entertainment and Technology, Laura Miele, revealed the news. “We have delivered some of the highest quality and best-selling Star Wars games of all-time, with over $5 billion in net bookings, Miele said, as reported by VGC. “This impressive track record includes of course the Star Wars Jedi games, where over 40 million Star Wars fans have connected with Cal Kestis and his arc of becoming a powerful Jedi. Respawn is working hard to bring the final chapter of this thrilling story to players.”

When last we left Cal at the end of Survivor, he, Merrin, and Greez had taken up residency on the planet Tanalorr, a remote planet safe from the Empire. It’s a planet where the trio plans on helping to relocate the Imperial Resistance organization, the Hidden Path. So, clearly, this story wasn’t over at the end of that game and there’s still a good amount that can happen before events catch up to A New Hope.

Also, this is something I hadn’t thought about when playing Survivor because it wasn’t out yet, but Tanalorr reminds me a little of Peredia in terms of Star Wars story devices. Peredia is the planet in another galaxy where Ahsoka and Sabine find Ezra and Thrawn on in the Ahsoka show, and while it’s never stated that Tanalorr is out of the main Star Wars galaxy, each has this impossible-to-access quality about them. I wonder if, in any way, there could be a connection. We’ll see.

There’s no news on a title or release date for the third game game but if you look at the gap between the first and second ones, a 2027 release seems like a good bet. Are you excited about it?
